This is a message from a dear friend of mine with a cause that is near and dear to my heart for two reasons. One, as a cancer survivor myself, and the other is because I was with Amanda as she died. Please give, if you can. If you can’t donate, you can still spread the word by re-posting or RT’ing. Thanks!
As many of you know or may have seen all over facebook, my husband in the last 32 hours of a ten-week competition to raise the most money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
His goal was not to win, but to raise enough money to have one of their research studies named in memory of our daughter, Amanda. He’s not there yet.
Amanda did not have Leukemia nor Lymphoma, but she died of a cancer so rare that there are no organizations or foundations specific to her illness. However, LLS is the only organization out there that is conducting research to find cures for ALL cancers, and they have pioneered the study of the uses for the medication Gleevec, of which Amanda was the VERY first ever to try. Had they known then what they know now, it would have worked.
These are the studies that save lives. They are finding new medications that are not controlling but are CURING cancer. Doctors, biologists, and biological pysicists (like my brother was before he lost his life to cancer) are studying the DNA and genetics that cause cancer and attacking it where it begins. This is very important to us. Amanda was born with her cancer and we never knew. How many other families are out there losing parents, spouses, siblings or children because they just “never knew”.
Please help Ron keep his promise to Amanda to make a difference. Go to this website and even if you only give $5.00 or $10.00 its more than they had before your donation. Donate here
All donations are tax deductible and ALL of it goes towards medical studies.
