Detroit begins to learn the ways of The Force

I was in a state of awe when the Detroit Fire Department made a promise.

22 new ambulances and more training by January.

This is particularly surprising, considering how the fire department had previously said they were doing the “best they can” under the old administration.

A tip of the helmet to Don Austin, Detroit native now Detroit Fire Commissioner and former LAFD chief, for making immediate headway into a problem others figured they could ignore. Someone finally fights back.

  • Great to hear. For a long time Detroit has been the unfortunate low end of the spectrum mentioned whenever Seattle reaches a new cardiac arrest survival percentage. Not that we’re not all happy for systems like Seattle and King County, just that it’s great that Detroit has someone in charge who is looking to move them in real forward direction.
