The Skin Gun

I saw this video on my Facebook feed this morning

I was absolutely amazed that we can spray on skin grafts now and repair burned skin to near perfect, if not perfect, condition. This technology uses stem cells.

The best part about this stem cell technology is that it requires no destruction of embryos in order to create the solution.

The doctors isolate stem cells from a biopsy of the person’s unaffected skin, the mix a solution that is water based and is sprayed on after debriding the burned skin. The mixing and isolation of skin cells only takes 1.5 hours, and the healing process only takes 3 days. That’s right. THREE days. So far 12 people have been successfully treated, and more testing it due, but all results look promising.

Imagine the implications, if we can do this, we can do so much more.

I’ve done a few tours through burn units at University of Michigan and OSU… As someone who has never treated someone with a serious burn it was an eye opener.

This video was absolutely amazing. I can’t believe what was accomplished in a few short days.

    Thanks for sharing it.
